PABLO CRUISE - st LP 75 w Lifeline LP 76 w A Place In The Sun LP 77 w Worlds Away LP 78 w Out Of Our Hands LP 83
The great song 'Climb On Board, The Good Ship Pablo Cruise' has been playing in my head all week since hearing this fabulous vinyl work by one of San Francisco's finest bands! A couple of hits I remember like 'Whatcha Gonna Do' had major airplay and 'World's Away' album is highly touted!

COVERDALE-PAGE - st CD 93
After posting the 'Wizard's Convention' LP last week, I went to Discogs to check up on Coverdale the guy from Deep Purple and read about this release that is due for the 40th anniversary pressing next year. Didn't want to seek out the vinyl as the reviews were not good and people were waiting for next year, however, when I saw the cover I knew I had just seen it whether it was at Jerk Dog records that last week after sellin' off some records and then I saw it in the Goodwill pile!!! The CD got higher marks than the vinyl and yeah, thought I was listening to an old Led Zep record first track! That was first band I collected all their vinyl back in the RCA club in high school up until I scored the CD boxset for my B-day and had their best cover tune 'Traveling Riverside Blues' that we played at old yearly house parties long ago. https://mega.nz/file/HcEjUYIT#lrFWHM9NsNoePXOA66nfyMjNj_2hHrH9S0tsx633A-E

CULTURE - TWO SEVENS CLASH LP 78
Well this request came from Jake Burns, singer for Stiff Little Fingers (one of my favorite groups by the way as you well may know from reading this blog over the years) and one who knows about early reggae scene such as this first album from Culture that he listed in a top ten. Thanks Mate!

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - He's The D.J., I'm The Rapper CD 88 w Bonus D.J. Scratch Album w Girls Ain't Nothing But Trouble EP 86 w And In This Corner...CD 89
Yeah, when I was surprised to find the 89 CD tucked inside another CD jacket, and what with the news item and all, I had to pull out my old metal cassette that a mohawked buddy of mine in college taped for me with his big hit tune and the follow up EP. Actually always liked their precision and clearness!

ENO - ANOTHER GREEN WORLD LP 75
Well since I had just heard Eno on outstanding 'Jubilee' soundtrack, I had to pull this out of my cassette vinyl tapings. Such a classic and it also got me to pull out his ex-partner Peter Gabriel right below. And how nicely timed with First Avenue club's recent anniversary and the new video I watched here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9ifsWfX0V8 it's only an hour and the old DJ's that started after the Disco Era when it was called Uncle Sam's and then Sam's, Kevin Cole says when him and the other main D.J. first met and talked they both agreed on Brian Eno as someone they could reach common ground for playing records in the club. PETER GABRIEL - st LP 80 w Security LP 82 w Plays Live 2LP 83 w Us tape 92
REPOST and ADD ON: Decided to convert my taped vinyl cassettes of three of his albums that I have always thought we classics such as "She's so POP-ular" on Games Without Frontiers hit song. The first song on the US album kind of got sound deadened--perhaps the tape was crumpled or something.

CONQUERORS - ACAPPELLA LP 86
Well now I know how to spell 'acappella' after another post with the word. A little late for the prime 'Jesus Music' era but like the others has a good opener tune in 'We Bow Down' and last time I heard that phrase it was being spoken to me by Ice Cube the rapper before they played. That night he rocked the First Ave house and probably said that beforehand because he was out all day visiting North Minneapolis school children.

VA - LOVE HITS CD 2 & 3 w Back In The Days Of Soul Comp. KMOJ
Well this one certainly pissed me off that I only found disk's 2 and 3 and was missing disk 1. Normally this isn't an issue and I would go search it at Discogs or Ebay or with the word blogspot but still nothing. Some German company that slipped in a few new versions of songs like for 'Young Girl' but amazing how they got all these high grade songs with some of the early versions from the no-name original bands. Anybody GOT [please do share] disk one, might have been made for a retail store like Old Navy or some of the other ones I've seen. Anyways the missing disk got me to pull out an old mix tape I made from Chilly Charles old KMOJ radio show 'Back In The Days Of Soul' and wow something to be said for D.J.'s in their element playing favorite tunes as some of these are so familiar but getting lost in time such as: Keith Barrow - You Know You Want To Be Loved, Bobby Womack - You're Welcome, Stop On By, Jr. Walker & the All Stars - What Does It Take (To Win Your Love), Natalie Cole - Annie Mae, The Whispers - (Olivia) Lost And Turned Out and even William (Wee Gee) Howard with the timeless classic "Children Hang On (To Your Dream). That D.J. must have known I was taping throwing such lost classics as these at me that Sunday night in college while doing homework no doubt. Here are other artists: The Isley Brothers, Jackson 5, The Temptations, The Spinners, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Al Martino, Kenny Rogers, Doc Bowl, Lobo, Blue Angels, John Matlock, Brian Parker, William John, Billy Ocean, Nino Feras, King Royal, Christina John, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Turtles, Tommy James & The Shondells, The Troggs, High Music, The Byrds, Terry James, John Crimson, Vince Taylor, The Colodas, The Fortunes, Chris Gold, The Lovers, Ben E. Aaahhhh yeahhh! Roll up that tank top and let that belly bounce!! We talkin' original 'body movin' type music that led to the Beastie Boys from good old K.C. back in the day. I only had the two or three albums and ended up using a CD rip from the same blog that provide all the rest. He sure kept to the spirit of the music with great easy going lyrics and same themes throughout...party movement! FL guy.
