VA - THE SWING ERA 1938-1939 (WHERE SWING CAME FROM) 3LP 70

Got to open the plastic on this one but what you see is a good vendor's perfect size sleeve for boxsets that they sent me with 100 white inner sleeves, however, once I put it on it was too hard to remove so you see the overlay text...oh well, I'm sure Discogs has it.  The real treasure beyond the 3 vinyl is the coffee table hard cover book that came with it.  More or less a continuation of my 'Duke vs. The Count' post that are currently at 5027 and 3749 downloads respectively (kind of feels like I'm Nathan Nothin with his Zoviet France vs. Rapoon March Madness competition he just finished so check it out1).  I say that because the book is like a continuation of Duke's Workshop which was one of the rips.  And all the Big Band stuff I've been flingin' at ya--BTW found a killer new vinyl boxset for Benny Goodman who is featured throughout this top shelf package from Goodwill.  Oh yeah, gotta say this is part two of the decades (30's) post from last week such that next week we can get into the 40's and continue on.  This is for all teachers!  Enjoy and Happy St. Patrick's Day (me namesake day).!!!

Keeping with the classical posts while I got them and this is a fine sounding one.  Makes me think I should have kept more from the Goodwill but comforting to know they are always around.

DANZIG - st CD 88 w Danzig II - Lucifuge CD 90 w Danzig III - How The Gods Kill CD 92 w Danzig 4P CD 94 w SAMHAIN w MISFITS w reposts

HAPPY HALLOWEEN REPOST:  My very first rip for DU blog I specifically sent in to Mark U. a cassette rip from the very first DANZIG tour that I had got at the show. The rest I gathered recently from my files the first four releases before the black metal phase for this post.  This gave me a very good opportunity to organize quite a bit from the past like the Samhain and Misfits posts that I am leaving in place.  I added quite a few more bootlegs to the Misfits.  Then I picked out other artists that needed reposts and organizing so have at it!!!  A mega-super HALLOWEEN POST 2025,CHEERS!!! Through the millennium I was close friends with Raven Danzig who was a regular at least to 4P era big arena Danzig whereas I saw every Danzig regular Minneapolis’ First Ave shows U know Prince’s club at least one time after debut tour in like 2007 I wanna say but yeah she updates us on her private blogger that she recently left social media and has taken to classical music lately describing various Arias.

VA - UNTIL THE END OF THE WORLD MPST by Wim Wenders CD 91 w THE ROMANTIC STRINGS ORCHESTRA - TILL THE END OF TIME 7LP 91

I was a little short on Halloween stuff this year so I decided this was a scary enough theme in these two releases-one another Reader's Digest vinyl boxset to go with that ongoing theme and the other I discovered on a youtube/facebook reel that had a bunch of old artists covered by this blog in the past.  I remember as we collectively moved from the indoor clubs to the big outdoor festivals in the 90's, I always thought 1991 was a top year in music.  Artists featured:  Graeme Revell, Talking Heads, Julee Cruise, Neneh Cherry, Crime & The City Solution, Lou Reed, Can, R.E.M., Elvis Costello, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Patti Smith and Fred Smith, Depeche Mode, Jane Siberry with k.d. lang, T-Bone Burnett, Daniel Lanois and U2.

VA - THE WORLD'S MOST UNFORGETTABLE MUSIC 9LP 62

Getting back into the last of the vinyl boxsets and hey found some kids records (16 total) and so in two weeks will start the 16 weeks of Kids Music Christmas.  The cassette player took a dump on me after only a year as it was the same dual player I had before that broke so I had gotten the same brand.  Trying a single deck by next week for only thirty some dollars marked down from a hondo so I can continue the radio tape series again.  This classical stuff is super quiet in parts then goes into triumphant loudness!!!

VA - MAGICAL WORLD OF MELODY 10LP 63

Continuing on with the weekly vinyl boxset series we have yet another TEN record box which ties the record for most vinyl I know about in a box set.  However, I've been biting off a bit more than I can chew lately with little room for error but got a bit over my head on this one.  You see while labeling the songs yesterday on the work computer which just got new RAM added but still every time I highlight the song title and try to start to type it reverts back to all highlighted and erases the title I typed unless I zero it out and try to select the text again--eventually works--but had a stray instrumental track last night when I go home to convert the WAV to MP3 and only had a letter for the title so threw off the whole mess.  Also, my ripping computer which I keep offline and is way past it's prime but stores don't seem to sell PC's with sound cards anymore has developed a couple of 2 minute pauses when I use the media player but keeps it's place so far for ripping but can't really check each song while playing on the vinyl to figure it out as I look at groove spacing I guess some kind of chip stutter anyways made it hard to do the usual sorting out and so left as is.  Starting with the 'gay' french music by Offenbach, on record 10 then Chopin/Grieg/Strauss until Leroy Anderson when I can backtrack from a vocalist at some point I left with basic titles and no song titles.  It was all recorded in order so won't be hard for you(it's a do-it-yourself blog I've said many times in the past) except for that stray monkey wrench song 98=1 that I labeled and threw in randomly.  Will be glad to finish these Goodwill boxset finds with the rest being much smaller and easier.  I labelled 70% of it and will play in order except for track 98=1.

VA - VIACOMCMD RADIO K w INT'L COMP tape 97

What a pleasant surprise to find this compilation I made from taping songs from my favorite AM radio station RADIO K on the back of one of the Prince bootlegs last week!  This one is the latest year so far I've found, 1997 which is interesting to me since back then I had said 1996 was one of my favorite years in music due to this stations many charms such as one mentioned within that they did a weekly top 12 countdown on international music with one played every hour.  I didn't have all the titles from the DJ banter between songs but damn a couple of these world music releases kick some major ass so all you Muslimgauze downloaders take heed!  Includes also:  Pavement, Blur, The Promise Ring (later morphed into Maritime who I have posted as well--both from WI), Morphine, Negu Gorriak, Shallow, Cornershop, Sleater-Kinney and some song starts I recorded then changed my mind either due to my having the band already or loss of signal or some other reason but they sure have those super catchy song parts that have stuck in my head all these years--simply incredible licks!!

VA - HEAR 'N AID LP 86 w BAND AID - U.S.A. For Africa (We Are The World) EP 84 w Save The Children 2LP 73 w The C.A.R.E. Session EP 85

Growing up with MTV you will recognize all of these compilations but the one I am adding today, I had missed called HEAR 'N AID didn't quite make the USA for Africa release so they made their own.  Per Discogs:  On May 20 and 21, 1985, 40 artists from the hard rock music community gathered at A&M Records Studios to participate in the making of a record called "Stars" as part of a very special project known as Hear'N Aid. The "Stars" single, coupled with the album, a video documentary on the making of the record, and other ancillary products will release money for famine relief efforts in Africa and around the world.

40 artists and hundreds of volunteers donated their time and talent over four months to make Hear'N Aid a reality. "Stars" is a plea for unity in the fight against world hunger.

Features:  rare Jimi Hendrix version of hit tune, Accept, Motorhead (!!!!), Rush, Dio, Y&T, Scorpions, Kiss and USA for Africa has songs by:  Steve Perry, The Pointer Sisters, Bruce Springsteen & The E. St. Band, Northern Lights (Canadian All-Stars), Prince & The Revolution, Chicago, Tina Turner, Kenny Rogers and Huey Lewis & The News.  For Save The Children we have:  Jackie Verdell & The Push Expo Choir, Rev. Jessie Jackson, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson 5, Nancy Wilson, Ramsey Lewis Trio, Jerry Butler & Brenda Lee, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Roberta Flack w Quincy Jones, Sammy Davis, Jr., Curtis Mayfield, Bill Withers, The Temptations, The Main Ingredient, The O-Jays, Zulema, Cannonball Adderley Quintet, Rev. James Cleveland & The Push Expo Choir.  The other comp's have too many to list here so check out discogs:
