Harumi - st CD 68 -cc

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Per Discogs:  Real Name:  Harumi Ando

Profile:  Japanese singer songwriter who recorded an album in New York City produced by Tom Wilson.

According to some sources he died in 2007 at the age of 62. "There is very little known about the man named Harumi, if that's even his real name (and it's debatable, as "Harumi" has female connotations in Japanese). Virtually every source-every blog, every website-has the exact same information on him: He came from Japan to New York to record an album, and disappeared. Did he remain in America?

F.Y.I. I put three other blog info on him in text file within, a sample:  Frank Zappa, whose Mothers of Invention mercilessly blasted the philosophical lightweights so prominent in late 1960s hippie culture, called Harumi a “flower-power album” and expressed that he had no desire to listen to it. Looking back at this record four decades after it was recorded and hearing how generic it sounds, one’s encouraged to adopt Zappa’s stance.

TORU TAKEMITSU & SEIJI OZAWA & Toronto Symphony LP 69

A couple of Discog comments that I agree with:  referencing Asterism / Requiem / Green / The Dorian Horizon (LP, Album) SB 6814

Lostwinter May 21, 2023

I’m no expert in classical music but I can say with confidence that this record is fantastic. Of the 4 compositions Asterism is particularly good, with its Cecil Taylor-style piano and discordant strings. Just wait for the crescendo, it’s seriously intense.

Adam_A Aug 29, 2021

Asterism is the "star" piece here, reminiscent of Penderecki and Ligeti- a complex piano piece of interstellar properties that culminates in a drone-based cacophony of brilliance. The three remaining pieces are "lighter" (if one can use such a term for these modern works!) but equally enjoyable. Good, rugged modern classical. Not for everyone though. It probably won't make a fan out of you if you didn't like this kind of approach in the first place.

Kead Dennedys - Too Drunk To XXXX 7 94

REPOST Request:  Thanks to Brian Guy, here is his intro:  No this is not some rare issue that has the name spelled wrong on the cover, this is a Japanese band that Does covers of DK Songs. Since I am big into covers, I just had to pick this up to see what it sounded like, and this does not disappoint.
Ishikawa on vocals does a pretty good Jello Biafra impersonation and delivers on all three songs.
This was released in 1994 on K.O.G.A. Records .Enjoy,Brian Guy
