HUGH MASEKELA - THE BEST OF LP 69

This is an artist that definitely deserves a more in depth listening with all his great looking vinyl.  A nice place to start with my vinyl rip here which has his biggest hit:  Grazing In The Grass!

JULUKA - SCATTERLINGS LP 82

Since the cover of this Goodwill find is kind of hard to read, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this is the band I highlighted out and gave praise to as did Jonder in the comments when I had posted the Warner Brothers compilation:  VA - If The Shoe Fits....Hear It LP 82 83 from start of this year!!!  Per Discogs:  Juluka was a South African band formed by Johnny Clegg and Sipho Mchunu. Juluka means "sweat" in Zulu, and was the name of a bull owned by Mchunu. The band was closely associated with the mass movement against apartheid.  Search the word 'Haiti' over at Nathan Nothin's blogspot in search bar there:  http://nathannothinsez.blogspot.com/ to get the skinny on the history of this music and the Yoruban drums originating on the coastal region of West Africa and right now he is on his third 4AD record label post (LUSH post below) with all the early singles and albums I am missing from many bands I have posted in the past.

LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO - BEST OF CD

I remember them headlining First Avenue club a few times so I knew the name but just found this at Goodwill.  I will let Discogs do the talking:  Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a South African male choral group that sings in the vocal styles of isicathamiya and mbube. They rose to worldwide prominence as a result of singing with Paul Simon on his 1986 album Graceland, and have won multiple awards, including four Grammy Awards. They were formed by Joseph Shabalala in 1960 and later became one of South Africa's most prolific recording artists, with their releases receiving gold and platinum disc honors. The group has now become a mobile academy, teaching people about South Africa and its culture.

Kruger Randy & the Bleached Boys - Everything's Groovy in the Sun 7" w BLEECH BOIS

REPOST Request:  Surf rock from Durbain, South Africa. This is pretty interesting and a step back in time. The lyrics are not anything even close to being politically correct, but never uses overly offensive language. At time's I'm kind of a taken back at some of the lyrics, which I hope where meant as a joke of some kind.

On to the actual platter itself, there is a Dick Dale feel to this seven inch but if it is surf rock it pretty much has to in my opinion. "Back in the R.S.A." is a pretty rocking tune the singer on this song, I am not sure which one because it looks like three of them share the vocals sounds like Velvy the lead singer of The Diesel Queens, the likeness is uncanny. "Everything's Groovy in Sun City" is a Beach Boys Parody.

This was released in 1988 on Mykel Board's Seidboard World Enterprises label.

Download if you dare and if you do download it no bitching about it, you've been warned about the content.

Cheers,

Brian Guy
