GLENN GOULD - THE MOZART PIANO SONATAS, VOL. 3 LP 72

 For this post for the weekly classical theme, I inserted some piano-playing two sides piano cheat sheet note cards that had fallen from some other Goodwill vinyl so I tucked them in here.  Per Discogs:      Real Name:  Glenn Herbert Gould (né Gold)

Profile:  Born: Glenn Herbert Gold, 25 September 1932 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada:  Died: 4 October 1982 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (aged 50)

Glenn Gould was a Canadian pianist, known especially for his recordings of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his eccentric piano technique and personality.

He recorded most of Bach's keyboard works, all of Mozart's sonatas, all five of Beethoven's piano concertos and 23 of the 32 piano sonatas, the complete piano works and Lieder of Arnold Schoenberg, works by Sibelius, Bizet, Richard Strauss and Paul Hindemith.

Gould was also a composer, writer, lecturer, and producer of radio documentaries and television programs.

Gould assumed the parts of fictitious characters such as: "dean of British conductors", Sir Nigel Twitt-Thornwaite; a German critic, Dr. Herbert von Hochmeister; and a New York cab driver, Theodore Slutz of Brooklyn Heights. Other alter egos were Dr. Karlheinz Klopweisser, a German composer and critic; Sir Humphrey Price-Davies, a "BBC-type pedagogue"; Duncan Haig-Guinness, a Canadian radio producer; and two psychiatrists, S.F. Lemming, M.D., and Wolfgang von Krankmeister. He even published certain articles under the name "Herbert von Hochmeister". Some of these characters were used on Glenn Gould - The Glenn Gould Silver Jubilee Album.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  The first picture shown and listed in title is for this series and I added my past post for Ennio from before.  Here is what I had listed:  Per Discogs Ennio Morricone (Italian pronunciation: [ˈɛnnjo morriˈkoːne]) was an Italian composer. He was born on 10 November 1928 in Rome, Italy and died on 6 July 2020 in Rome, Italy. A favorite pupil of Goffredo Petrassi, he also deputized secretly for his trumpeter father in a light music orchestra. He thus developed two distinct sides to his musical personality: one of these led him to embrace serialism and the experimental work of the improvisation group Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza; the other gained him a leading role, principally as an arranger, in all types of mass-media popular music, including songs for radio, radio and television plays, and the first successful television variety shows.

After many minor cinematic collaborations, Morricone achieved wider recognition with Sergio Leone's series of four Westerns. There followed important collaborations with directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Elio Petri, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Valerio Zurlini, Roland Joffé and Brian De Palma. Despite inevitable self-repetitions over a total of more than 400 film scores, his work provides many examples of a highly original fusion of classical and popular idioms.

Morricone's non-film works form a large and increasingly widely performed part of his output. Many of them use his technique of ‘micro-cells’, a pseudo-serial approach often incorporating modal and tonal allusions, which, with its extreme reduction of compositional materials, has much in common with his film-music techniques.

Among honours, he won the Academy Award in 2016 for his score to Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight and has received five Academy Award nominations between 1979 and 2001, a Grammy and a Leone d'oro, and was awarded the Laurea ad Honorem by the University of Cagliari. Between 1991 and 1996 he taught film music at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena.

 Some fine Italian prog rock to start out this short four album series for this week of suggestions from our friend Josef (Austria).  Interesting write-up from Discogs:  Italian prog rock band formed in 1974 by Federico Idà (bass, flaute), Franco Vinci (guitar, voice), Marcello Surace (drums), Massimo Idà (keyboards, voice), Silvana Idà (voice). In 1975 they published the prog rock album with the same name of the band, considered by all critics and fans of the genre around the world, one of the musical works of the period among the highest in terms of expression and of character of the composition.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Going back to finish off extra 'C' titles this week and then onward to all the E's keeping the alphabetical order in this series.  Not sure where or when I got this put here is from text file I tucked inside it:  Costantino Luca Rolando Kiriakos, born in Milan, Italy in 1966, moved to Greece at the age of 6, where, better known as Coti or Coti K., has been involved in various Athens pioneering electronic bands since the mid eighties (Ricochet, Dada Data, Raw, Spiders' Web, In Trance 95).

He works as a musician, composer, installation artist, record producer and sound engineer, and collaborations include: Tuxedomoon, Stereo Nova, Blaine Reininger, The Raining Pleasure, Nikos Veliotis, Ilios and others.

He has released various solo CDs, written music for film, theatre, dance companies and TV. A member of club 2-13, he has played live electronics with many musicians including Evan Parker, Phil Durrant, Nikos Veliotis, Rhodri Davies, Andrea Neumann, Phill Niblock, Mark Wastell, Matt Davis and others.

Cherry Five - st CD 75 -cc

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Going back this week for last out of order additions to this series as D was finished and next week it will be onward to the E's.  What I like about doing it this way is I get very nice surprises every week as you will see on this one per Discogs:  Having started out as Oliver (releasing a few demo tapes) they later changed their name to Cherry Five (releasing one, eponymous, LP) before finally settling on Goblin. During the completion of the Cherry Five album, Dario Argento helped bring over the members to score his Profondo Rosso soundtrack; at which point drummer Carlo Bordini was replaced by Walter Martino and Goblin was formed.

De De Lind - Io Non So Da Dove Vengo E Non So Dove Mai Andrò, Uomo + Il Nome Che Mi Han Dato CD 72 -cc

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Per Discogs:  They began their career in 1969, the odd name coming from a popular Playboy model of the early 60's, and only released three singles in their five years career, the first two closer to the Italian beat of the time, while the third had a good rockier B-side in Torneremo ancora. though still far from their LP sound.

The group was a sextet in the picture on the cover of the 1969 single, reduced to a five-piece in the second, a year later.

The album came in 1973, the vocal parts are short but very well made by singer Paradiso, leaving plenty of room to acoustic atmospheres and the sudden assaults of guitarist Vitolli and flute/sax/keyboards player Trama, and the seven tracks on the album are all highly regarding, with a mention for Smarrimento with a sweet flute introduction, a furious guitar/flute interplay followed by the acoustic guitar based vocal parts that leads to a powerful guitar-driven end.

After the album release De De Lind played at 1973 Rassegna di Musica Popolare held in Rome, and at Be-In festival in Naples, with new drummer Fabio Rizzato.

Singer Vito Paradiso had a short solo career in 1978-80, while the rest of the band has totally disappeared.

Before forming De De Lind drummer Rebajoli had played with New Dada and I Nuovi Angeli, with which he returned after leaving this group.

Not bad at all for a crooner type release.  Per Discogs:  Real Name:  Sergio Franci Galli

Profile:  Italo-American tenor and actor. Brother of Dana Valery.

His first US album Romantic Italian Songs (1962) and Our Man From Italy (1963) were both on Billboard's top-40 album charts. After becoming an American citizen in 1972, Sergio often called himself "a Yankee Franchi".

Born: April 6, 1926 in Cremona, Italy.

Died: May 1, 1990 in Stonington, Connecticut, USA.

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Per Discogs:  Campo di Marte (named after a part of Florence) was an Italian, progressive rock band, based in Florence 1971-73. Renowned studio guitarist Enrico Rosa composed the whole album, and is still active today in Kolding, Denmark where he moved to in the late 1970s. American born bassist Richard Ursillo (aka Paul Richard) had previously played with Sensation's Fix, and returned to them after the demise of Campo di Marte. 30 years later, he took part of the band's reunion, and Enrico's wife Eva Rosa played various recorders and electronic woodwind instruments.

ARMANDO TROVAIOLI - BLAZING MAGNUM OST LP 76

 Great sound track I can add to the collection with Trouble Man, etc.  Per Discogs:  Armando Trovajoli (born September 2, 1917, Rome, Italy - died February 27, 2013, Rome, Italy) was an Italian film composer and pianist with over 300 credits as composer andor conductor. He was married to the Italian actress and singer Pier Angeli.

As a child he learned to play the violin, showing a remarkable musical talent. In 1937, he became a member of orchestra Rocco Grasso and in 1939, he played with Sesto Carlini's orchestra, one of the most renowned Italian jazz bands of that time.

 REPOST and ADD ON:  Added the vinyl of American Gigalo with the longer version of Blondie's Call Me on it to replace the CD rip I had posted from another blog along with the Cat People CD.  What I wrote before:  Wow, his first seven inch hit from 1972 really rocks hard on the two songs almost like and old punk seven inch.  The album is from the same year and not quite as powerful.  Per Discogs:  Real Name: Giovanni Giorgio Moroder

He founded the Oasis label and Musicland Studios. In the 1970s he invented the Munich Sound (often confused with Italo-Disco which will arrive later) and created the first iconic releases with Donna Summer and Roberta Kelly. Today, he is back to DJing for passion. He was called Hansjörg by his mother.

Analogy - Analogy CD 72 - cc

 TOP 100 RARE COLLECTORS CHOICE:   Might as well start this series as well like below, the files will be marked with '- cc' in the WinRAR filename but this series I found online so list will be included of TOP 100 rare.  I will not be going after all on that list since I have a lot already like Misfits 'Legacy' and others that I've also posted before.  Maybe I can go for all the 7 inch singles on the list sometime but I doubt it as I tried a few and no luck.  Per Discogs:  The group was formed by four German musicians living in northern Italy, near Varese (three of them had grown up there, Thurn-Mithoff arrived in 1968), along with two Italians, keyboardist Nicola Pankoff (originating from Arona) and bassist Mauro Rattaggi. The initial name was The Joice, but it was changed by mistake by their record company to Yoice, and it was with this name that their first single was released by the small Produzioni Ventotto label, distributed by Messaggerie Musicali. In 1972, when Rattaggi quit and rhythm guitarist Schoene switched to bass, the group changed its name to Analogy, and had the chance to play some very important concerts like Caracalla Pop Festival in Rome (first concert with the new name) or the Be-In in Naples, though they remained totally unknown outside Italy, apart from Switzerland. Their only album, very rare and interesting, shows some rock-blues influences, with the nice voice of singer Jutta Nienhaus in strong evidence, and had a distinctive cover with the group members all naked.

In 1973 keyboardist Nicola Pankoff left the group, though he kept playing and also dedicating to painting, he was replaced by flutist Rocco Abate. The group split around 1974, after more than 250 concerts in Italy and around 60 in Switzerland. (Source: www.italianprog.com)

KANO - st LP 80

 REPOST Request:  From Discogs:  Italian disco/italo-disco/electro project.

Based in Italy, it was led by producers, songwriters and musicians Luciano Ninzatti (guitars), Stefano Pulga (keyboards), and Matteo Bonsanto (producer), often with deep r'n'b vocals from Glen White.

They released three early 1980s albums, scoring dancefloor hits with "I'm Ready / Holly Dolly" (1980), "It's A War" (1980), and "Can't Hold Back (Your Loving)" (1981).

Although Kano is considered the starter of italo-disco by many, it also served as a bridge to electro and breakdance later in the 1980s.

Fitting request per my post of NUMBER ONE ENSEMBLE right above.  This band needs more exploring as here is what I wrote on the first post:  O.K. here's the little monster that got me pulling old disco rejects, since the first song had a bad skip, I pitched it but later I was able to edit that song and the first song on side two to be playable and all the rest make you feel like you got your own little rave going on...I had just taped the old fave movie "Groove" from VHS to MP4 so had my groove going!
