LADY FLASH - Beauties In The Night LP 76

Like last year, I am creating a new weekly series with 10 or 11 albums to expand on this band's name:  Lady Flash Series.  Most are big dance numbers like this band's big hit 'Street Singin'.  They were for Barry Manilow what The Love Unlimited Orchestra was for Barry White.  Enjoy!!!

Companion - Mr. Head Live LP 80

Here's another fine suggestion from Josef (Austria) with limited details on Discogs:  Profile:  Late 70's rural US hard / psych rock band.

Members:  Douglas Kelly, Jim Maguire, Patrick Maguire, Ronnie Miller

TAOS - st LP 70

Thanks to Josef (Austria) for giving me a nice run on the country rock theme and filling out this blog with all the essential selections I was missing.  Not much on discogs about them except this:  Profile:  Psychedelic Rock band from the 1970's.  Sites: therisingstorm.net   Members: Albie Ciappa, Burt Levine, Jeff Baker, Kit Bedford, Steve Oppenheim.

GORDON CALCOTTE SHOW - GALVESTON LP w THE SPINNERS - SPINNING WHEEL LP

Going to start this post with a comment from a youtube post of the "Spinning Wheel' cover song/title track from The Spinners (yes, know I know a different band):
The guy that's singing on here is the same guy that sang on a couple of other Crown budget exploito LP's. Check out Lee Akers and the Electric Generation "Heavy Heavy" album and also The Underground Electrics "Hey Jude". I quite like the guys voice.
So YES, I am going to re-up my old Spinners post where this band was mixed in and YES, I agree with comment and am going to seek out the other exploito bands that may or may not have the same singer.  I am assuming The Gordon Calcotte Show is the same vocal which I totally enjoy calling it Country Funk back then making up my own history..Ha Ha.  But hey no one figured it out over a decade.  Anyways sooo glad to be figuring this out since I like the Spinning Wheel tune so much (I left in my old rip as last song with quick gap from a cut I had to make after finding the comment and different rip on youtube).  That being said, this Galveston album has been staring me in the face for years in a stack and I never knew it but dang it is a great album (truck drivin' tune too!!) & has the same Crown promo label.

THE MUSIC EXPLOSION - The Very Best Of LP 86 w flexi 68

REPOST:  Reposting this for my own self to keep clear with the music machines below.  What I wrote before (is still true):  Here we go, with A Little Bit Of Soul and Little Black Egg (the Pagans covered this classic!) and the flexi with the Laura label songs are outstanding!  And from Discogs: Mansfield, Ohio-based pop group that experienced meteoric, but short-lived pop success in 1967 with the hit song, Little Bit O' Soul. Members included Jamie Lyons (vocals, percussion), Don "Tudor" Atkins (lead guitar), Richard Nesta (guitar), Burton "Butch" Sahl (bass), and Dave Webster (drums).

THE MUSIC MACHINE - (Turn On) The Music Machine LP 66 w The Bonniwell Music Machine - st LP 67 w st LP 67 14 w Ignition 1967-68 CD 00

Dedicating this post to the who requested it...my organic store clerk ROB!!!  Now you can see why I added on to the Tom T. Hall below as I had posted HIS music machine before and trying to get this all organized starting with the Music Explosion right above this post.  You will remember their big hit, "Talk Talk" and the second album with the Bonniwell added to their name is considered a classic psychedelic album per the youtube video included by Acid Archive Diaries.  Described as early 60's protopunk.

TOM T. HALL - I Witness Life LP 70 w The Story Teller LP 72 w For The Last People In The Last Hard Town LP 73 w Songs Of Fox Hollow LP 74 w Music Machine LP 76 w VA - Real, The Tom T. Hall Project CD 98

REPOST and ADD ON:  Added a 1970 album shown on top picture, then re-upped the tribute link where I first posted it and then added the files to this post.  I mentioned before I had remembered his song "I Love" perhaps from the radio and a kids music album is included from original post.  Here is the Discogs info:  American country music songwriter, singer, instrumentalist, novelist, and short-story writer.
Born May 25, 1936, Olive Hill, Kentucky – died August 20, 2021, Franklin, Tennessee.
He was married to Dixie Hall. Brother of Hillman Hall and Jack Hall (7).
As a teenager he formed a band named the Kentucky Travelers and during a stint in the Army he began writing comic songs about his experiences. After leaving the Army he worked as a radio announcer. His songwriting break came in 1963, when country singer Jimmy C. Newman recorded his song, "DJ for a Day". Many of his songs were written about his experiences and the people and places in the eastern Kentucky of his youth.
After his retirement from the road and major label recording, he and his wife, Dixie Hall, were heavily involved in bluegrass songwriting, promotion of newer bluegrass artists, and operating a recording studio for bluegrass artists. In 2004, he and Dixie won a Distinguished Achievement Award from the IBMA. In 2016, they were honored with an exhibit at the International Bluegrass Music Museum. Tom was elected to the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1978, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008, and was honored as a BMI Icon in 2012.

VA - GOSPEL ALL NIGHT SING LP

The weekly Jesus music selection is a fine mix of recently posted artists in this series including:  Sego's & Naomi, Dixie Echoes with Hal Kennedy, The Florida Boys, The Crusaders, Clyde Beavers, The Trav'lers Quartet, The Songs Of Song, The McCormick Gospel Singers, The Sunshine Girls and Wally Flower & The Oak Ridge Quartet.

TwentyOnePilots - VESSEL LP 14

An interesting random find at Goodwill thrift, it's the new style emotive singing like my nephews are into like Zach Bryant, etc.  I liked some of the intricate quick flourishes both vocally and instrumentally.  Per Discogs:   twenty one pilots (official capitalization) is an American duo from Columbus, Ohio. In 2009, lead vocalist and keyboardist Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih formed the band as a trio, but after Thomas and Salih departed in 2011, Joseph and new member, drummer Josh Dun, moved forward as a duo.

THE WINTERS BROTHERS BAND - st LP 76

WoW this is top shelf suggestion from Josef (Austria) and a companion piece to the Texan post Michael Rabon from the other week.  Per Discogs:  The Winters Brothers Band are southern rockers hailing from Nolensville, Tennessee and should not be confused with Edgar and Johnny Winter.

Led by Donnie Winters and Dennis Winters, sons of Don Winters.

TOM SNOW - Taking It All In Stride LP 75

Where winter calls (post right above), snow is sure to follow.  This guy is a leftover from my mellow rock AM stars posting a little while back but not sure of the hit songs but what'ya know he was in the recent post of the International Submarine Band I see now from Discogs:  Real Name:  Thomas Righter Snow

Profile:  American singer songwriter, composer, pianist, keyboardist and synthesizer player.

Tom Snow's first musical venture was as a member of Gram Parsons' group "The Like" (which became The International Submarine Band) in 1965, followed by The Bagatelle in 1968. After moving to L.A., he met Michael Fondiler, a former member The Red Roosters and Western Union, and formed Fondiler & Snow and Country in 1971. Tom got a deal with Capitol Records in 1975 and released two more albums before concentrating on songwriting exclusively, penning hits for artists as diverse as Rita Coolidge, Olivia Newton-John, the Pointer Sisters, Dolly Parton and Bonnie Raitt.

VA - LET'S DISCO LP 78 w 144 BPM walking tape side 2

Going to tack on the weekly cassette rip which only has one side since it is 45 minutes long and I didn't think adding the songs to it helped much.  This K-tel Disco record was quite popular and has two songs that are very cool that I had not heard before from previously posted band FOXY and Peter Brown along with T-Connection and K.C. & The Sunshine Band.  The other side are 4 dances BTW if anyone has the book that was included that would be nice!

LINK REPOSTED 10-6-26 (was missing music side of walking tape):  https://bestfile.io/t4IVtCzK3JAAxaa/file

Tonio K. - Life In The Foodchain LP 78 w Amerika LP 80 La Bomba EP 82 w Romeo Unchained LP 86 w Notes From The Lost Civilization LP 88 w Burt Bacharach - Original Demos CD 17

REPOST Request:  What I wrote before with Discogs first:  Real Name:  Steven Michael Krikorian

Profile:  American singer / songwriter, born 4th July 1950 in Palm Desert, California as the son of Armenian immigrants.

Thought this artist might be some offshoot R&B type like The System but hard to put your finger on having socially conscious very cool lyrics with a street punk feel and green vinyl from 78 which was a great year for it after first big year 1970.  Some buried gems for songs.

ROBIN LANE AND THE CHARTBUSTERS - st LP 80 w Five Live Songs On A Specially Priced EP 80 w Imitation Life LP 81 w ROBIN LANE - Heart Connection EP 84

THE GERBER BROTHERS - ECLECTIC LP 74

Well, this weekly Jesus Music band is quite good and threw me for a loop as from the SOUND 80 studio which I believe is the same one in MN where Suburbs began.  The other releases are not to be found on youtube so you understand why I am posting such wide variety here.  Of course, I am searching for them.

AHMAD JAMAL - The Piano Scene Of Ahmad Jamal LP 69 w THE AHMAD JAMAL TRIO - Volume IV LP 58

Well we just had a cool live piano soul jazz post last week with Father Tom Vaughn and one of these platters from Ahmad Jamal (why do I keep adding Warner to the end like Malcolm the actor's name ha ha) is the same hip toned down audience that reminds me of last week.  Per Discogs:  American jazz pianist, composer, bandleader, and educator, born, July 2, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - died April 16, 2023 in Ashley Falls, Massachusetts. Born Frederick Russell Jones, he converted to Islam and changed his name to Ahmad Jamal in the early 1950s.

Ahmad Jamal made his first records in 1951 for the Okeh label with The Three Strings (which would later also be called The Ahmad Jamal Trio, although Jamal himself prefers not to use the term "trio"): the other members were guitarist Ray Crawford and a bassist, at different times Eddie Calhoun (1950–52), Richard Davis (1953–54), and Israel Crosby (from 1954)..  Enjoy!

SOUTHERN COMFORT [CHICAGO] - st LP 69

While on fetch from youtube for the U.K. band of the same name, I found this vinyl rip on youtube that got some quite good feedback then found it on rockasteria with this text:  Recorded when legendary Chicago blues harpist Walter 'Shakey' Horton visited the UK in 1968, Southern Comfort is a superb showcase for his talents, as well as those of bassist Jerome Arnold (the Butterfield Blues Band), drummer Jessie C. Lewis (Otis Rush) and trailblazing guitarist Martin Stone (Savoy Brown and Mighty Baby).

Though mostly a superb blues set, however, it's best-known today for the epic closing track - one of the most mind-blowing psychedelic workouts ever recorded.

"Whilst still with Mighty Baby, Martin Stone recorded a rare album called Southern Comfort with American blues harmonica player Walter 'Shakey' Horton, which is principally notable for Netti Netti, the long psychedelic jam that ends proceedings"
