ROSS - st LP 74 w The Pit and the Pendulum LP 74
REPOST Request: From Discogs: British hard-rock and prog band fronted by guitarist/singer Alan Ross (formerly with John Entwistle's group), also featuring Bob Jackson (see Indian Summer DU post) who played Keyboards and Lead Vocals with Indian Summer. They existed about two years 1973/1974 gaining international release on RSO Records, with some success in Germany and the States, but failing to get an audience in their home UK they soon split-up after the release of "The Pit & The Pendulum" an ambitious sophomore concept album.

Alan Ross and his band Ross had a great and unique style and sound for two albums in 1974 on RSO Records that were equally well produced and enjoyable from front to back. So if you enjoy this, seek out the other.. "The Pit & The Pendulum", which is equally as good with memorable cover art thematic to Edgar Allan Poe. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you for this. It was a lucky find as the LP is not in many collections.

i'm not into prog-rock, but i gave a blind try to this just for the catchy cover,
then listening i like almost every track of it...
maybe Rso smoothened this band for a better commercial appeal,
but i found influences of Santana/CS&N that i love...

Happy that VCMD found the complementing 2nd album, an even rarer LP, to make this set complete. The talent and production on these 1974 LPs make a great listen throughout. I've seen tens of thousands of LP covers. Some stand out more memorably than others. "The Pit & The Pendulum" cover art falls easily in that category. For those that enjoy finding some good stuff they never knew existed... give this forgotten band a go.
Thanks again to VCMD for putting this together!
