Not his first solo; that would be in '73. Big solo artist for some years before this LP.
Ferry did 5 solo album before Roxy's breakup a couple of years before "Boys and Girls" came out. They were all a really interesting mix of covers and original songs. His version of "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is stellar. (His version of "It's My Party" is less so. Listen for a good laugh!) I'm a HUGE Ferry fan -- as far as I'm concerned, this man has THE perfect voice. He could sing numbers out of the phone book and it would sound like poetry to me. Really, ANY of his solo albums (either during the Roxy years or post-Roxy) are worth having. I think they're all great, but then, I'm obviously biased!
