REPOST Request: What I wrote before: I really dig the songs 'The Sacred and the Profane" and 'Endless Night' which are very functional songs mood-wise. Square up those shoulder pads!!!!! Oh yeah, I think they have one more album but I didn't think it had the same hits so I can't find it (thought I got from another blog but I guess not).

Didja ever hear the Goddo track 'O Carole (Kiss My Whip)'? Cracking little ditty written about Rough Trade's front lady Carole Pope and her provocative stage act. Well worth checking out, i think it was on their 'Who Cares?' album.

Always out to shock, Carole Pope met Kevan Staples at a band audition in Toronto, and soon the two started to perform the Yorkville area of Toronto in the 60's which was much like the San Fran reflection or music, hippies and pot. First calling themselves O, based on the 1954 sex shocker Histoire De O, and later as the Bullwhip Brothers, the didn't fit the 60's love and peace genre, and in 1976, as Rough Trade, with additional members, they were the first rock band to record a direct to disc album with "Rough Trade" Live, which despite the title was actually a studio recording. Each song was performed live (without an audience) all the way through, and cut directly to the mastering disc for greater audio fidelity.
Playing local bars in Toronto (mostly the Horse Shoe Tavern) and writing quite successfully, music for soundtracks and TV, their first international track release was a song called "Shakedown" on the soundtrack to the Robert Deniro Film, "Cruising" and that soon had them a recording contract and on to fame. Carole also appeared on Lisa Dal Bello's Track "Animal" and a duet with Paul Hyde of the Payola's on their hit "Never Said I Loved You" in the Toronto music circuit. Carole went on to a solo career after this, relocated to LA and is still active today in recording and touring. Her solo work, to date includes:
