NEW KINGDOM - PARADISE DON'T COME CHEAP CD 96

Was craving to hear this ole CD of mine, as Wiki says:  New Kingdom was an American rap rock duo from New York City consisting of Jason 'Nosaj' Furlow and Sebastian Laws. Formed in 1987, New Kingdom was known for its psychedelic, funk, and blues-influenced style and abstract lyricism. The duo released two albums on Gee Street Records in 1992 and 1996.  ENJOY!!

I had completely missed out on this until a few years ago when Andy Falkous (singer of Mclusky) listed it as one of his "Bakers Dozen" of favorite records. That sent me on a mission to find it and hear it! Sure enough, great stuff. I got the impression that New Kingdom was more popular in the UK?

Yeah I got hipped to it by our EDGE type 90’s radio station in MN at the time who incorporated it into the regular play list the “Unicorns…” hit song. It was weird because something in the song reminded me of the office fax machine &@&?? maybe the way the song rose to a hilt and stayed there or something. It was my first engineering sales job out of college and the fax machine was right in the middle of all the offices in the main room but nowadays it is hidden away and they all use email. Anyways I always loved the loose hip hop sounds with power!!!! Wonder if the U.K. picked it up then …maybe you’re meshing in their name for a Mandela affect HAHa. Cheers Jonder and thanks for the comment
