FLOYD CRAMER - Plays Your Golden Favorites tape 85 w Class Of '65 LP 65 w America's Biggest-Selling Pianist LP 61 w I Remember Hank Williams LP 62 w On The Rebound LP 61 w Blue Skies CD 97 w Floyd Cramer And The Keyboard Kick Band LP 77

REPOST and ADD ON:  Adding three vinyl to previously posted as well as all the DU comp album tracks I had to fill in.  I found his slurring method quite fascinating--here is the back cover text that mentions it:  Floyd Cramer became America's biggest-selling pianist by giving America a new sound.  He did it first with Last Date and followed its success with two more hits, On the Rebound and San Antonio Rose.

The Floyd Cramer sound is easier to listen to than to describe in print.  Technically, it's a method of slurring--or bending--nots which Floyd first heard used by old-style Southern steel guitarists.  He converted this style to the piano, added some ideas of his own, and suddenly found that he had captured America's musical ear.  Floyd calls his style 'a lonesome country sound'.  His friend Chet Atkins calls it 'a way of playing the piano with feeling'.  But whatever it's called, the Cramer touch is a success.  It has given new meanings to old songs, and has given new songs a distinction that marks them as his private property.
