REPOST Request: From Discogs with a sentence I had wrote before tacked on the end: Disco - funk band, formed in 1970, New York City, NY, USA.
Active in the 1970s and '80s, they released an impressive 22 albums in two decades, at labels as Perception Records, Event Records Inc., Spring Records, and Cotillion respectively.
They were the band concept of innovative drummer Bill Curtis, aiming to merge the "fatback" jazz beat of New Orleans into a funk band.
They had seminal hits like "(Do The) Spanish Hustle", "I Like Girls", "Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money)", and "Backstrokin'". Their 1979 single "King Tim III (Personality Jock)" is sometimes considered the first hip hop single.
Brooklyn, NY band akin to Mandrill or perhaps like the band WAR but from the East Coast instead of West Coast but more dance.
