VA - HOME GROWN III KBG RECORDS UNITED WAY PROFITS BENEFIT LP 75

REPOST Request:  What I wrote last time:  I ain't kidding this copy is minty new from Discogs  to replace my crappy Goodwill rip a couple weeks ago. After learning that our regular contributor E.W. spilled the beans that he sang for the band 'MUTT' on this (E.W. put link to more songs in comments)...I told him they could have been the next WAYNE COUNTY as they really nailed that sound!  Of all the comp's this label did, he said this one took off in sales albeit for United Way charity but for good reason as all these songs are really catchy and great!  My first and best friend neighbor gorwing up moved to San Diego in Junior High and we kept writing each other and he would stay all summer with us when he visited telling stories of his cool school mates there like one guy Jeff Lee who taught him how to make numchucks so we all made them in our neighborhood and also introducing me to the big bands there at the time:  Oingo Boingo, The Romantics and Bow Wow Wow were the biggest and my first exposure to them in 8th oir 9th grade.  Bands featured: Ron Mayer, People Movers, Rusty Jones, The Weirs (see vid in comments), Mutt, Barry Fox, Carey Fox, Sierra Band, Punk, Horsefeathers, Steven Shipps and Listen.

Wow ... if you can believe it, my band Mutt is on this crazy record. We had been living in Los Angeles in 1975 and had completely run out of money and so went back to San Diego, and the first thing we did was send in a song in hopes of getting on that album. And this stupid song, "Mission Bay," made it on there (a song we originally recorded at Paramount Studios in LA). I had to redo my vocal and change the lyrics because all the songs had too have a San Diego theme to it. And my vocal on there, which I did real quick, just fucking sucks. But the record sold a zillion. And eventually, we moved back to Los Angeles, where everything sort of fell apart. But I still make music: https://therevenants1.bandcamp.com/music

Wow E.W. very impressed, that song actually stuck with ma little about Mission Bay. If you ever want to send any Mutt demos for digital processing I will do my best. I also found your two vinyl conversion blogs recently on a comment: Mondo Exploito (LOL) and Vinyl Revival...keep up the good work and I can link you up on sidebar if you wanted. Keep the faith brother. Viacomcmd

So here are a few songs that we recorded right as the band was coming to an end. I don't have any of the masters ... these were digitized years ago by the guitar player, Bob. They sound very much influenced by Elvis Costello and that period of music.

I kept on working on my own and recorded some stuff with Marvin Etzioni, who would soon join the band Lone Justice with Maria McKee. Eventually I moved to Boston, and started doing music again ...

And there's a band on here called the Weirz, Which is a family band that features a very young Michael Damian (Danny Romalotti in The Young and the Restless and the David Essex cover "Rock On") Whom was Michael Weir at the time, And Larry Weir of that band when on to write songs for the 1987 cult classic Teen Witch! I'll give you a snippet of the Weirz, Someone said in the comments of another video that they sound like They sound like ABBA meets The Grease 2 Soundtrack meets Vicki Sue Robinson's "Nighttime Fantasy" and another said they sound like 'Chicago on Crack'

One more bit of trivia: Mick Garris, the lead singer of Horsefeathers, went on to direct a lot of Hollywood horror films:
