She has quite a career with 8 Grammy Awards as Multi-Platinum R&B/Soul singer songwriter.  Born Jan. 26, 1958 she is known for her soaring alto vocal range.  This Goodwill cassette is a very good intro to her music because at this era the highest evolution (in my opinion) of R&B was underway with the slow meticulous catchy songs with high tech beats ala stoner groove like what Keith Sweat, Smokey, Rick and some others were doing.
