METRO - st LP 77 w EP 81 w New Love LP 82
REPOST Request: Per Discogs: Metro were an English rock band, featuring Peter Godwin (vocals, saxophone, synthesizer), Duncan Browne (guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Sean Lyons (guitar). The band is best known for their song "Criminal World", which was covered by David Bowie on his 1983 album, Let's Dance. Godwin and Browne, who had enjoyed modest success as a solo artist in the early 1970s, formed Metro in 1976 and were later joined by Lyons. The lead single off their self-titled debut album, "Criminal World", was banned from the BBC playlist due to its sexual content. During this time, the band briefly changed their name to Public Zone and released a single, "Naive", with the Police's Stewart Copeland on drums. Copeland declined an offer to become a permanent member of the band, to remain with the Police. Following the release of their debut album, Browne departed the band to resume his solo career. Godwin and Lyons carried on with the addition of new members. Metro released New Love and Future Imperfect in 1979 and 1980, respectively. Following the demise of the band, Godwin embarked on a solo career, scoring a minor hit with Images Of Heaven in the early 1980s.

hi
Cool stuff. Check also out the similar sounding Duncan Browne and his LP "The Wild Places". Browne was a member of Metro.
best

Thanks for this - amazing to find these albums. I had both of these on wax back in the late seventies and thought they were brilliant. Looking forward to hearing these guys again. Cheers.

I thought Metro's 1st album was brilliant...reminding me of Roxy Music, Bowie even a little Steely Dan. I know Duncan Browne left the group after the first album. Never heard the second album...thanx for the opportunity!
Oh, and they were definitely UK!

Hey thanks for this, I bought New Love around 1980 and on downloading, strangely remember most of it. A rare treat finding this here. Didn't think anybody remembered. Cheers.

Hi Shaughn,
Thanks a lot for the comment as yesterday I found two minty Duncan Browne albums at Good Will and I didn't have the scoup on him. I will try to post during my Valentines rips this weekend which is boring old stuff mainly. Otherwise the next week if those are all scratchy taking more time. I think you meant 3rd vinyl as second one is an EP unless I am missing one. Thanks again.
