REPOST Request:  Per Discogs:  Chicago based group that originally formed in the mid-sixties as a garage band. Their sound progressed through psychedelic pop rock, and blue eyed soul. At the beginning of the 70's they were signed to Warner / Reprise and released a number of LP's that would best be described as jazz-rock over the next decade.

This is a great one! Anyone liking the brass rock genre, pop with prog-rock and folk-rock influences, should note this post by VCMD. These were The Ides first two albums. Here you'll find their radio hits "Vehicle" and "LA Goodbye". After this the band switched record labels and changed in style and substance (not favorably). Jim Peterik went on to found the 80s band Survivor, had another monster hit with "Eye Of The Tiger", and then turned Survivor into an 80s icon with new and amazing singer Jimi Jamison. Jim Peterik has written hit songs for other bands too, and eventually reformed The Ides Of March with ALL the original members. With almost all the originals, they still tour and play today. Some standout selections herein... covers of "Eleanor Rigby" and "Wooden Ships". Also "Superman" (written to follow-up the hit "Vehicle), and to close, the epic and original "Tie-Die Princess". Good music, composition and arrangement, throughout. For fans of early 70s horn pop-rock, these two Warner Brothers albums are glorious! That's my subtle recommendation.
