REPOST and ADD ON: This post to commemorate both Lou Wilson past death and the recent death of Claude "Coffee" Cave from the band. I added their 50th Anniversary Boxset with all the book pictures and having lost their first self-titled vinyl and fourth vinyl "Just Outside Of Town" both of which I played quite a bit back in the late 80's when I first heard the band and got the other vinyl posted. Here is what the band's official site I follow said: With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother and bandmate, Claude “Coffee” Cave, who left us after over 50 years of sharing his soul with the world through his music. As the heartbeat of our sound, his incredible talent on the keys brought Mandrill’s music to life in ways that words cannot describe. From the streets of Brooklyn to stages across the globe, his melodies carried the spirit of funk, the rhythm of cultures, and the message of unity to everyone who listened.
More than just a keyboardist, Coffee was a light in our lives, a constant source of love, laughter, and inspiration. He embodied everything we stood for—bringing people together, creating joy, and reminding us all that music can break barriers and heal hearts. No matter where we went, his music spoke a universal language of Love.
We are deeply grateful for every moment we shared with him, and for the countless lives he touched through his artistry. Though our lives will feel emptier without him, his spirit will forever live on in our music and in the hearts of everyone who danced and dreamed along with us.
Rest in power, Coffee. Your legacy will forever play on, with your light carried on in every note.
