COLLECTOR'S CHOICE: Lot's on this one at Discog: Ainigma (ancient Greek for enigma, or ænigma) was an obscure, early 1970's German rock band consisting of young school kids from the city of Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria. Having had an unknown singer (who never returned) trying out for the the group, they stayed as a trio, although singers came and left. As such, their first gig was at nearby Oberammergau. Their only LP was recorded in 2 days in 1973 on a simple Revox tapenrecorder with 4 channels.
Hardin & York were an early influence. Later on, their influences were primarily from such British acts as the symphonic rock band Nektar and heavy rock/prog/psych band Atomic Rooster, but also Stray, Cressida and King Crimson. A consistent trio (with other members passing through), the band continued through Autumn 1974. Very little is known about them.
Members:
Wolfgang Netzer: Guitar, vocals
Alex Ulrich: Bass
Willie Klüter: Keyboards
Michael Klüter: Drums
Christoph Nandlinger: Flute, Sax
