Johnny Dee and the Rocket 88s - st LP 79 & 80
REPOST and ADD ON: I was commenting at Jonderblog about their awesome 'clowns' post (here is link to the second one silly clown songs 2) mentioning the pink album here that I had posted long ago with not a clown but guy in an alien masked guy on the cover and Jonder quickly reminded me they had an earlier album that I had not know about so I promptly had to get last copy or so on discogs and once more is chalk full of great 50's covers which makes sense since 80s bands had 50s parents. The song selection from this Austin, TX party band are top shelf! Per Discogs: Well known for their 1986 Addy Award-winning public service announcements for the Texas Department of Transportation "Don't Mess with Texas" ads. During decades of touring, they had shared the stage with Wolfman Jack, Dick Clark, James Brown, the Beach Boys, Charlie Daniels, Tanya Tucker, the Pointer Sisters and Ricky Nelson, among others.
