 Well how about that, a Nebraska boy like Michael Deacon!  A great read I might add on Wiki and this bunch of songs really helps someone like me posting stuff which cover some of these classic tune made all the more poignant as they were featured in movies as Fred revolutionized dance on film by having complete autonomy over its presentation.  He is credited with two important innovations:  1) Insisted that a closely tracking dolly camera film a dance routine in as few shots as possible--typically 4-8 cuts, while holding the dancers in view at all times which gave the illusion of an almost stationary camera filming an entire dance in single shot. 2) Adamant that all song and dance routines be integral to the plotlines of the film instead of using dance as a spectacle.  He was good friends with Noel Coward who I have posted.
