JEFFERSON STARSHIP - EARTH LP 76 78

Had heard their big hit from this album, "Count On Me" and remembered how it had worked it's way into my brain as a wee youth so picked it up.  Also, has a 'Skateboard' song from the early Dogtown days before the big boards when I had gotten my very first skateboard and used to go around and around our circle driveway back then and used it in a modeling job for SCOTCH tapes back then, later getting a several modern boards but anyway here it is:

Believe It or Not "Count on Me" Was Actually a Cover and It Was Originally Done by the Writer of the Song Jesse Barish (Whom Went on to Write Former Front Man Marty Balin's Hit "Hearts") So The Story Goes Jesse Wrote "Count on Me" and Thought of It as a ‘Commercial Song’ and He Even Entered It in the American Song Festival and Was a Quarter Finalist and He Won 50 Bucks and He Was Really Excited, Then He Demoed It Up To Try to Get a Record Deal and He Got a Deal With RCA With Marty Balin’s Help, Marty Was Producing the Album (If you look at the credits on the album, Marty is not credited as 'Producer' he is credited as 'Directed by' Because He Saw Himself as a Director Rather Than a Producer) and This Song Was Part of the Album. And While Jesse and Marty Were Doing the Album, Marty’s Band Jefferson Starship Happened to Be in the Same Studio Jesse Was Doing His Album and They Heard the Track and They Wanted to Do It and Jesse Thought to Himself ‘Do I Hold It On for Myself or Do I Give it to a Sure Thing’ And Being the Smart Businessman He Was, He Gave the Track to the Band and Never Looked Back. His version Did Get Released On His Album, But Not as a Single. Here's the Link to That Original Cut, Enjoy!!!

By the Way, I Never Hear This on Radio (I Did Hear It in a Store, But That Was Many Years Ago) I Always Hear "We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" Never This Song. It's a Great Song and It Was a Hit in Its Heyday, But You Never Hear It on Radio Anymore.

Thanks ClassicMusic20,
Yeah, someone had posted it in one of my meta music groups a few weeks ago and instantly it took me back to when it was on the radio all the time---when I did that skateboard ad so ironic they had a tune by that name on the album. Since I forget all those old radio songs in time, I immediately got the album. However, took a full bag of ripped vinyl on my bike last weekend to the Goodwill drop station as I have been doing on my bike with no vehicle and sure enough that album got quickly given away. I only put it up now because they are touring in FL soon that I saw somewhere. Not that I can go. Biked to see Great White on near me downtown across the river though during the July 4th fireworks and filmed their 'Rock Me' song as it was a great free show! I have never heard Jessie's version in my life until just now. Glad JS did it. BTW searching to see if I had posted JS before and found Richie Cole's album with the Tom Waits song "Waiting for Waits' where he does funny cameo on the very end of the song. I reposted the link without sayin' you may like the rip. I rip too much stuff and had completely forgotten it!

Oh yes, this run of 4 Lps re-established them as viable 1970s rockers, not just aging Hippies Supreme. Then, they tried again in the 80s & succeeded at even greater heights. But, they sold their souls in the process. I promptly lost interest. Thank you for this Lp!
