I've been reading about you finding music albums and such at your local Goodwill. It brought to mind about when I was employed with Goodwill at their warehouse where donations were brought to and sorted after pick up from bins, donation trucks, etc. The items would then be put back on trucks and sent to the stores. The stuff that didn't sell after a while would be sent back to the warehouse where it was discounted to companies that recycled materials or individuals at a deep discount.

There was one man who would showed up often each month and we'd set out a couple of those huge blue gaylord bins full of vinyl records next to his SUV for him to pick through. He was able to sort through the bins and choose what records he wanted. I don't know how much money or fee he paid for that access or the person he contacted from Goodwill. I assume he worked out the details with the warehouse director and came to some agreement for a flat fee.

The guy probably found quite a few decent LPs over time looking through those bins.
