CRISTINA - st EP 80 w Doll in the Box LP 80 04 reissue w SLEEP IT OFF LP 84

REPOST Request:  Damn, just another Covid-19 vaccine casualty.  From Wiki: Cristina Monet Zilkha (née Monet-Palaci,January 17, 1959 – April 1, 2020),known during her recording career simply as Cristina, was an American singer and writer, best known for her no wave recordings made for ZE Records in the late 1970s and early 1980s in New York City. She "was a pioneer in blending the artsiness and attitude of punk with the joyful energy of disco and pop.... [which] helped pave the way for the massive successes of her contemporaries, like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, and anticipated the rise of confrontational but danceable alt-pop acts..." in a mode that was at once "campy, self-aware, and infectious.          https://mega.nz/file/juwkRIqS#XEc7KvP5IclkOztG09Gmgr4zUilPGRMd6LpBJEeHEzg

Any chance of a re-up of both of these? Down Underground is the best...

I discovered her in 1983 via the "Sleep It Off" album. I couldn't sleep one night, was changing stations on the radio trying to find something that was listenable, and found a radio station that was playing "Don't Mutilate My Mink" -- and I was hooked. Went out a couple of days later and bought both "Doll in the Box" and "Sleep It Off," and I've loved them ever since. Thanks for the EP, I've never been able to find that before!

THIS IS AN AMAZING ALBUM. Seriously, her version of "Ballad of Immoral Earnings" from Kurt Weill's "The Threepenny Opera" is THE BEST version I've ever heard of that song, and I've seen several productions of TTO. And her cover of Van Morrison's "Blue Money" is pretty damn awesome, too. I LOVE THIS RECORD!

I had no idea she had passed away during this pandemic. So sad. She was a really unique and wonderful artist.
