REPOST Request: Here's one from the blog creator Mark and what he wrote before: Here's a tape I got on one of my trips to Bimini,Bahamas.Located about 60 miles off my coast,it was an easy journey by boat. There is nothing to do there but fish & booze up.The place to go back in those days was the Compleat Angler Hotel, that's where I saw this band. This tape brings back memories of the hot sun burning a hole in my back as I sweat myself silly pulling in fish & the burned out nights drinking gin until we could barely drag ourselves back to the boat & then do it all over again the next day.Enjoy!

Mark this is a great post.
I went down to bimini when I was a teenager and saw the Calypsonians play on halloween night. All the bimini folk were dresed up in costumes and going wild at the Angler, what a party!
I never got that metal hoop to catch the hook, but I know its possible I saw somebody do it. I may have even had my first beer in the Compleat Angler. We caught a big dolphin fish and ate the whole thing, delicious. Fun times, I'll never forget it.
Cheers

Life doesn't get any better.
Always awesome fishing. My last time there I bagged a White Marlin & 50 lb Wahoo the same day.
The metal hoop & hook. You mean the game where you throw the hoop onto the hook on the wall?I could do it...but not drunk lol.
Thanks for your comment Mike.

Hi Mark, Have been going to Bimini for many years. I Bought this tape, "Back in Bimini" at The Compleat Angler, on one of my fishing trips. It has been one of my favorite albums. I used to make copies and give them out to my friends, and I lost the original. Finding this online is unbelievable. Thank you so much for posting it. I already forwarded it to my Son who grew up listening to it. I always love the Bimini Natives. Did you ever meet a man named Cornbread when you were there?
Happy Fishing!

Awesome, thanks for posting! I've been looking for this music for years. I used to sail to Bimini in the 80's, and would party at the Angler before taking off across the Bank. This music brings back memories of a time before GPS, before loran, when navigation was an art, not a video game and the entrance to Bimini harbor was marked by a range made out of driveway reflectors.
I've bought 2 of these tapes, I wore the first one out and while I still have the second one, I'm afraid to play it.
Thanks again, I'll be making copies and sending them out to some friends who still have these songs dancing in their heads.

Is it possible to post this file link again? The current link is dead and I'm dying to hear The Calypsonians. I grew up in Miami lucky enough to have a boat captain for a Dad and we used to listen to this tape all the time (in between visits to Bimini). I'd love to hear it again, but can't find it anywhere, thanks.

Cornbread was a very memorable and jolly friend on every visit on my Dad's Hatteras. Also Ozzie was the main singer I believe. I grew up there fishing for billfish in the August native fishing tournament. We were on Casper the Ghost and battled with Me. Bob, Got hooked, and Islander. Loved the end of the world bar, and the Red Lion had the best cracked conch. Bonefish ansil, miss bonita, Hemingway heaven on the complete anglers walls. You could here the fishing legends stories if you listen close enough. Ring toss. Terrible fire destroy it all. God the memories. I was so blessed. Miss those days
