The Jim Carroll Band - Catholic Boy LP 80 w Dry Dreams LP 82 w I Write Your Name LP 83
REPOST Request: Such a great writer like in his 'Basketball Diaries' as comment mentions and of course his classic tune is so relevant these days with "People Who Dies" as he lists all he knew in the neighborhood who had died. These are very special albums and I was fortunate to have seen him twice at First Ave Club and I can attest people were just spellbound over his performance.

I bought 'Catholic Boy' when it first came out. This rip has to be better than than my LP! And it's time I heard the other two albums. Many thanks.

Oh, my darling Jim, how I worship thee. Seriously, I LOVE these albums. I first read "Basketball Diaries" in 1980 when I was in high school, and reading about the horrific experiences Carroll had trying to kick his drug habit when he was just a teenager scared me enough to keep me from ever getting involved in drug culture, which I'm glad of now! He's a great writer; if you get a chance to read his books of poetry, I HIGHLY recommend them. He was such a visceral writer -- you can literally almost feel, hear, taste, and see the images he puts before you in his writing. The guy was AMAZING. And his music is terrific. Hard to believe that it's been over nine years now since he passed (on September 11, at that). His kind of brilliance will never be seen again. But you know what they say -- the brightest lights always burn for the shortest time.
