Gotta disagree with you on Mode -- they've been one of my favorite bands since my senior year in high school back in 1982. I've loved them for more than 35 years, and even though I don't the quality of their music is as high as it was during their peak years in the late 80s/early 90s, I still think they're SOOOOO much better than any band from the last 20 years or so. Martin Gore is a fantastic songwriter, and I love Dave Gahan's voice.
Fun fact: My college graduation gift from my parents was tickets to see DM at the Rose Bowl show where they filmed their 101 concert movie. So that's my claim to fame -- I was "in" a Depeche Mode film!

The dude is this band "who left Depeche Mode" is Vince Clarke, who later formed Erasure with Andy Bell and still releases albums as Erasure to this day
