Well I had never heard of Jerry Butler until I moved down to Florida and my buddy Antonio from Rocket Star Record store had acquired the rest of an old stores collection having these three vinyl. Then not long ago, I found all these VHS at Goodwill for a PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) old TV special in at least 8 parts based out of Pittsburgh (I live by the Pirates spring training field so maybe that is why I got lucky and found this stuff) hosted mainly by Jerry Butler. He has been around since the 50's in music but the stuff I found is excellent soul from the 70's mainly. I spent half a day this past weekend on side one but I had to get his 'famous' one Mr. Dream Merchant into minty shape. Thus no CD's this week. Tons of soul/bebop/r'N b artists that I have posted in the past show up.
The Eddie Holman, Lou Christie and many more are absolutely over the top performances!!

Thank you so much!!!! Really, for ALL your efforts to bring us such diverse music and rescue some amazing memories for us!:) And now, these absolutely precious VHS shares. I don't have words to tell you how inspiring these 'golden' acts are--decades--on--I get really, unexpectedly, emotional getting to see and hear these FABULOUS performances by these mature stars! PBS does these specials with class. Love the formally-attired house band/orchestra on stage, and the talent even backing the stars is unbelievable. Digging the drumming in particular! Words can't express my gratitude for not only this post of treasures, but your whole Down Underground blog spot here. Thanks a million, and much health and happiness to you! <3
THANKS TERRY G AND CLASSICALMUSIC20!!!
Here's one you won't see too often ... J&K Stonebone, one of the rarest of CTI's releases.
