i know this LP was released around the time of the TV movie Rex was in, called, of course, "Sooner or Later", and the sort-of hit song 'You Take My Breath Away'.....i remember watching it whilst i was in high school in the late 70s......hard to believe his brother was Michael Lee Smith, from the AWESOME band Starz, who were on Capitol Records, and really rocked!!!!!!!

OH MY GOD, you do not know how happy you've made me with this post! Rex was my big crush back in my junior-high years -- I wore this vinyl album out! It's long since disappeared, and I've mourned its loss for years. I AM SO FREAKIN' HAPPY to have this music back again! Yes, it's teen pop, but unlike the crap that passes for "music" these days, this is well-crafted teen pop that (I think) has stood the test of time.

And besides that, the guy could SING. No autotuned junk here!

For this genre of sappy MOR, Rex Smith nailed it for the times this came out in BUT....his two hard rock albums "REX"(1976) and "WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE"(1977) are absolutely outstanding example of mid 70s hard rock with tons of great melodies 'n hooks to boot! Even serious hard rock fans(except the great Martin Popoff) ignore them - never understood why.

Nothing on YouTube of them live except for a 9 minute gathering of a few songs. By all reports, they RIPPED it up.

I saw them live in New Orleans. They opened for Mahogany Rush, who were recording Mahogany Rush Live that night. Crowd was electric, band was tight. Too bad he went the pop route after.

Thanks for this. Rex's brother, Michael Lee Smith, is actually the lead singer of the band, Starz, not the drummer. Starz is still an active band.
