Hmm...you have me intrigued w/ this one! Thanks for the opportunity to hear this record as i'd been curious about it for a while. Unfortunately the saxophone, which is all over this record, spoils it for me.
Although the sax is well played, it just doesn't work in the context of the overall sound & actually detracts from what the rest of the group are doing.
I can see what they were thinking, let's get a sax player it'll be a unique selling point for us, making us stand out from the other bands in this style.
To be fair, mission accomplished on that score, but it simply doesn't gel.
Replace the sax with a keyboard player & they might've been well placed to ride that REO Speedwagon/Styx/Journey radio-rock gravy train, but instead obscurity beckoned.
Too bad, they could certainly play.
