The Wanderers - Only Lovers Left Alive LP 81

REPOST Request:  This is an excellent Stiv Bators project with some members of Sham 69 with lyrics way ahead of their time which makes sense since they are from Stiv who was that way.  I believe one rip is from the old defunct blog "PunkNotProfit" and the other I got no idea.

This is a excellent album, own 4 hard copies if it. Every time I see one I get it. The story of how this LP came to be. Sham had just parted ways with Jimmy Pursey and wanted to carry on. They called Stiv in LA and asked if he wanted to be the new singer of Sham. He jumped at the chance and split LA for London. Well needless to say Jimmy got all pissed and threatened to Sue over the use of the name Sham at the time. So Stiv and Dave decided to change the name to the Wanderers. Musically its a natural follow up to Shams The Game album. Lyricly its most definitely Stiv 100%. Eventually they disbanded after 1 LP and 2 singles and a USA tour. Stiv then took Dave Treagunna with him and formed the Lords Of The New Church.

BTW I just notice you have the date wrong. This LP came out in 1981. Right after Stivs Disconnected and right before the Lords S/T in 1982.

Hey thanks Nekrodad! I just guessed at the date from the first song with 1984 in it. Never seem to have time to look that kind of thing up...just trying to get my vinyl ripped and sold off while keeping the worthy platters. Does the CD you have include the two singles also 'cuz I would love to hear it all. My opinion is that these rips are good enough at 320 kb/sec vs a CD at 1400 kb/sec plus so much more to download. Thanks for the history too, I had no idea!

Thanks for posting - the lyrics were influenced by the "audio letters" of Dr. Peter Beter

Yes the cd has the singles, oh I agree 320 Rip I'd fine in cd or LP form. The cd was issued by captain oi in 2000. They have sensed let it go out of print. Probably didn't sell to good unfortunately. This is some of Stivs best work and also some of Shams best work.

Thanks much for getting this up! I have the LP but I didn't take great care of my vinyl in the 80's. Lost my digital copy on a hard drive crash. I found a CD for sale but it was like $300! Fuck that! Looks like this is going to be a great bit rate too.
This is one amazing album!

Thanks for posting this. I'm ashamed to say I had never heard of this project. I recognized the album title from that Jim Jarmusch vampire picture. Good melodic punk.
