Yeah, Porter is great, Mark! I always felt he hit his stride more after the 50's. The song "The Rubber Room" has become a bit of a cult classic & appears on several comps. of "outsider/weird" music. As for Porter, ever read George Jones's autobiography? They didn't speak for years after a drunken Possum seized a certain appendage of PW's as he was taking a leak, and yanked it mercilessly... to his indescribable pain... No kidding... check the book!! (which is a surprisingly good read). Great post!!

Porter Wagoner is the real deal. I don't think I've ever heard a song of his that I didn't like. "The Rubber Room" is a favorite because it is so bizarre. You NEVER hear this kind of stuff in classic country. You have to wonder what his fans thought back when he first put this out. Thanks a lot, I've been wanting this one for a long time. Any other oop Porter albums would sure be nice.
