Stompin' Tom Connors - And the Hockey Song LP + Love & Laughter LP

A great package showed up on my door step from Toronto, with these two albums in it, Thanks a million Pete this really made my day.

More Stompin' Tom for you all. Here we have two albums.

First up "and the Hockey Song" which has a lot of surface noise, but is still a must down load if you are into Stompin' Tom. I love the fact that he can make statement songs like, "The Consumer" or "The Curse of Marc Guylaine" and then have funny songs like "The Piggy Back Race." The Song "True, True Love," Reminds me of the late Johnny Horton (not to be confused with Tim Horton) and "The Maritime Waltz" kind of reminds me of "Waltz across Texas," for some strange reason. All in all a great record.

It was released in 1972 on Boot Records

"Love & Laughter" is another great Stompin' Tom release. Just like the title says the songs are about love and laughter, except for "Fire in the Mine, which is more of a statement song. "The Bug Song," is a song that anyone who has spent anytime out doors during the summer months can relate to. "Rubberhead" is a great love revenge song. "Roving All Over the Land," is an excellent song to. This is another wonderful album, but of course I'm a little bias when it comes to Stompin' Tom.

This was released in 1967 on Boot Records.

I do wish that more people in the states really understood that Stompin' Tom is a great song writer and singer, Nashville isn't about country music is it?

Enjoy,

Brian Guy

THanks Bri-Guy. Yes, I have been trying to collect the most popular recently in the Midwest U.S. mainly Johnny Horton and Bobby Bare. Fun to collect for cheap. I will post sometime.

Yeah it's kind of funny but some of my best good cheap record finds have been at thrift shops. I'd love to hear what you have by Johnny Horton. I have a lot of his stuff, even a 45" of Johnny Sunk the Bismark with a pic sleeve that I kind of destroyed when I was a little kid.

Cheers,

Brian Guy
