I live in country with a strong Health care system.
And believe Austria is not a socialist country.
I prefer to life in a country where health care is for everyone - not only for people who can afford that.
If that makes me a socialist - fine.

I`m 51 years old and a hard workin man all my life ...
I life in Germany and I have a 11 year old son who had an accident in January (he broke through the ice whe he was walking on a frozen lake.)
When he was brought to the hospital he was nearly dead.
He spent month in hospital and still needs (and will for a long time)medical care.
The cost for that medical care is much higher than I or anyone in my family can ever affort.
You may say bad luck - that`s your problem - but I`m proud to live in a society where everyone gets the best possible medical care and not only up to the point you can afford.
If I would live in your country either my son would be dead now (or a disabled for the rest of his Life)and I would be finacial ruined.
In your country I would be a bum now!

By the way establishing a health care system has nothing to do with socialism - believe me I grew up in eastern germany - that was a socialist country the germany I live in now is a democratic country just like the USA, but one with a working health care system !

It's just this time it's on a socialists agenda.
Many congress men and women saying these town hall meeting are great because they bring out debate for the new health care programs, that's wonderful. So how can we trust Mr. Obama when he continuously said he wanted this passed before the August recess, which I believe left out public debate. Goes right along with dropping 300 page additions to the stimulus package in the middle of the night.
the problem is that the bill is over a thousand pages and i think there is 2 maybe 3 versions the senate version i think is like 600 pages. they want to rush this and pass this but most have not read the bill. so people are getting very concerned some have read segments of the bill and do not like what they have read and have questions but are not getting answered. when they are addressing their disdain some congressman have responded by calling them hate mongers and accusing them of being organized. they are not being very clear on what is in the bill. Our country is hurting financially unemployment in some states is up to 20% this is calculated by people only receiving unemployment. the majority of people here get their health care thru their employer so it would make sense for our economy to more or a major concern. it seems our government is leaning more towards facism. yes our health care can be of course. why not this for starters there are 3178 accident and health insurance companies in the united states. they are not available in all states due to government restrictions "lets get rid of this" for example http://www.naia-artists.org/resources/health_insurance.htm
the government states they want to get involved to bring more competition they can stick with medicare let the private sector do the rest.
Mark-I agree 100%. Being in the punk scene since the mid 1980's I am astounded how many punks prefer government control over freedom. In the re-issue of MRR Not So Quiet on the Western Front liner notes this was addressed, as it was re-released w/out the approval of MRR, a very left-sided magazine. It used to be you could go to a show and hear the left/right/middle expressed by different bands w/o it being a problem, then it all factioned and PC took over. I do not trust governement to have control over anything other than what we give them the power to do and so far they have even screwed up most of that with misspending and false fronts. I think obama has proven himself in line with socialists and socialists thinkers by his associations, has utilized identity politics in the Department of Justice etc. and i laugh when foreigners from smaller countries or more homogenous ones try to put a one size fits all form of government on our nation.
