I have an interesting story about this show. I was 15 and I went to Flynn's in the afternoon. I was sitting in the lobby when The Minutemen showed up. I knew I was too young to get in and I approached Watt and asked him if he could get me in. Without any hesitation he said "Sure." Then we found Richard Shelter and Watt asked him if I could come in. Shelter said something to the effect of "No, this kid always comes here and he knows he can't get in." Watt negotiated with him saying that I could wait outside until they played and sit on the stage behind the amps while they played and leave immediately after. Shelter reluctantly agreed. So I got to see them play with the best seat in the house.Years later I was 21 or so and Firehose was playing in SF. A friend of mine knew Ed from Ohio and got us in and backstage. I met Watt and asked him if he remembered that, he smiled and said "Yeah, thanks for coming." Shit like that is why I love punk and the minutemen in particular. That feeling that as a fan you mattered and that we were all on the same page. When D. Boon died, i was devastated. They were stand up guys, and man could they play.
:)
I never got to meet the Minutemen.
You should have hung with me.
Wherever I went,I went with an entourage.Usually it had a few underagers.Like Jay or Flard...
I'd have got you into anything.
Richard owed me that for selling tix.
Flynn's was great!Better than Cameo.
I agree, but I have some fond memories of The Cameo.
