COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  The first picture shown and listed in title is for this series and I added my past post for Ennio from before.  Here is what I had listed:  Per Discogs Ennio Morricone (Italian pronunciation: [ˈɛnnjo morriˈkoːne]) was an Italian composer. He was born on 10 November 1928 in Rome, Italy and died on 6 July 2020 in Rome, Italy. A favorite pupil of Goffredo Petrassi, he also deputized secretly for his trumpeter father in a light music orchestra. He thus developed two distinct sides to his musical personality: one of these led him to embrace serialism and the experimental work of the improvisation group Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza; the other gained him a leading role, principally as an arranger, in all types of mass-media popular music, including songs for radio, radio and television plays, and the first successful television variety shows.

After many minor cinematic collaborations, Morricone achieved wider recognition with Sergio Leone's series of four Westerns. There followed important collaborations with directors such as Bernardo Bertolucci, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Elio Petri, Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, Valerio Zurlini, Roland Joffé and Brian De Palma. Despite inevitable self-repetitions over a total of more than 400 film scores, his work provides many examples of a highly original fusion of classical and popular idioms.

Morricone's non-film works form a large and increasingly widely performed part of his output. Many of them use his technique of ‘micro-cells’, a pseudo-serial approach often incorporating modal and tonal allusions, which, with its extreme reduction of compositional materials, has much in common with his film-music techniques.

Among honours, he won the Academy Award in 2016 for his score to Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight and has received five Academy Award nominations between 1979 and 2001, a Grammy and a Leone d'oro, and was awarded the Laurea ad Honorem by the University of Cagliari. Between 1991 and 1996 he taught film music at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena.

IT'S ONLY ROCK & ROLL:  Good thing I reposting some of this series as I found another one I had labelled as a band like last week that should be a compilation or vica versa.  Features the Roxy Music Sax player per the comment.  Couldn't find anything about this on discogs so I looked up the members:  Real Name:  Julie Covington

Profile:  English singer and actress born on September 11 of the year 1946 in London. Most famous for recording the original version of Don't Cry For Me Argentina for the Andrew Lloyd Webber And Tim Rice - Evita musical (1976), she has performed on tv and with the English National Opera and in the companies of the National Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre.   Covington has also had chart success with her cover version of Only Women Bleed (1977) whilst also featuring on the million seller Jeff Wayne - Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds (1978).

Real Name:  Countess Roza-Marie Leopoldyna Lubienska

Profile: Actress and vocalist.

Born 30 September 1947.

Was married to Dennis Waterman from 1987 to 1998.

Profile:  Welsh actress best known for her role as Brian's girlfriend Judith in the 1979 Monty Python movie "Life Of Brian", Prior to that she appeared in the original London production of "Jesus Christ Superstar". She also appeared in a.o. "Rock Follies" and "Brideshead Revisited".

Bernard Pretty Purdie - Lialeh (OMPST) CD 74 -cc

COLLECTOR'S CHOICE:  Per Wiki:  Bernard Lee "Pretty" Purdie (born June 11, 1939) is an American drummer, and an influential R&B, soul and funk musician. He is known for his precise time-keeping and his signature use of triplets against a half-time backbeat: the Purdie shuffle. He was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2013.

Purdie recorded Soul Drums (1968) as a band leader and although he went on to record Alexander's Ragtime Band, the album remained unreleased until Soul Drums was reissued on CD in 2009 with the Alexander's Ragtime Band sessions. Other solo albums include Purdie Good! (1971), Soul Is... Pretty Purdie (1972) and the soundtrack for the blaxploitation film Lialeh (1973).

In the mid-1990s he was a member of the 3B's, with Bross Townsend and Bob Cunningham.

VA - CELEBRATION - ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST LP 69

 While I was gone for two weeks back home in MN, I took a $3.75 cash cab ride into town at my brothers place in WI and found some very cool vinyl including this at a crafts shoppe so pulled this one out to begin the holiday season with only one more posting week left for me for the year where I will have more Christmas or Crazemas per Nathan Nothin' blogspot to post.  This is a cast album which includes:  Keith Charles, The Revelers, Michael Glenn-Smith, Susan Watson, The Hittites, Ted Thurston, The Sycophants, The Machines and The Animals.                   https://bestfile.io/elUCtRZIJCiRhHI/file

Profile: American film composer, conductor, and pianist, born February 8, 1932, Floral Park, Long Island, NY, USA.  

In a career spanning six decades, he has composed some of the most recognizable film scores in the history of motion pictures. Williams (often credited as "Johnny Williams") also composed the theme music for various TV programs in the 1960s. Williams was known as "Little Johnny Love" Williams during the early 1960s, and he served as music arranger and bandleader for a series of popular music albums with the singer Frankie Laine. His most typical style may be considered Neo-romanticism, with a notorious use of leitmotifs and orchestral grandeur (most iconically in the Star Wars saga), but he has made also incursions in Impressionist, Expressionist or Experimental music, and also in progressive Jazz (his father was a jazz drummer and he began his career as a jazz pianist, often working with Henry Mancini).

Williams has won five Academy Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, seven BAFTA Awards, and 21 Grammy Awards. DIVA Original Soundtrack CD 81

 REPOST Request:  I'll post a combination of comments for this as I still haven't seen the movie but putting it on my bucket list:  Oh, you HAVE to see the movie. It's this quirky mid-80s French indie that my friend and I discovered in college. The soundtrack is fine on its own, but you have to see the movie to get the full effect. Kino Lorber just released a remastered Blu-Ray edition several months ago. (early 2022).. you can probably find a copy online still. 

It contains a magical piece of piano,"Sentimental Walk."
