THE ANGELUS CHORUS - SING A HYMN TO MARY LP

For the weekly Jesus Music obscuro this is more 60's gospel (typically no date listed back then) but still a good one as it is kind of a greatest hits for the Virgin Mary.  Enjoy!

FATBACK - Raising Hell LP 75 w NYCNYUSA LP 76 w Fired Up 'N' Kickin' LP 78 w 14 Karat LP 80 w Is This The Future LP 83 w So Delicious LP 85

REPOST Request:  From Discogs with a sentence I had wrote before tacked on the end:  Disco - funk band, formed in 1970, New York City, NY, USA.

Active in the 1970s and '80s, they released an impressive 22 albums in two decades, at labels as Perception Records, Event Records Inc., Spring Records, and Cotillion respectively.

They were the band concept of innovative drummer Bill Curtis, aiming to merge the "fatback" jazz beat of New Orleans into a funk band.

They had seminal hits like "(Do The) Spanish Hustle", "I Like Girls", "Gotta Get My Hands on Some (Money)", and "Backstrokin'". Their 1979 single "King Tim III (Personality Jock)" is sometimes considered the first hip hop single.

Brooklyn, NY band akin to Mandrill or perhaps like the band WAR but from the East Coast instead of West Coast but more dance.

PLEASURE - ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES LP 76 w GET TO THE FEELING LP 78 w SPECIAL THINGS LP 80

REPOST Request:  What I wrote before (and still have to do):  Missing a couple in-betweener's for vinyl but this is a good into to this disco legacy band just like I need a few more FATBACK like them and got FOXY covered the Cuban guys and will be doing some of the Donna Summer vinyl and CD I have found at Goodwill (previous mentioned were all found at regular record stores).  I guess top of the heap with this kind of music is Bohannon for me.  Pulled this out as a recent 'disco' contributor Terry G may like this band!                   https://bestfile.io/en/3oxtUPT7GTvPkKn/file

VA - THE WORLD'S MOST UNFORGETTABLE MUSIC 9LP 62

Getting back into the last of the vinyl boxsets and hey found some kids records (16 total) and so in two weeks will start the 16 weeks of Kids Music Christmas.  The cassette player took a dump on me after only a year as it was the same dual player I had before that broke so I had gotten the same brand.  Trying a single deck by next week for only thirty some dollars marked down from a hondo so I can continue the radio tape series again.  This classical stuff is super quiet in parts then goes into triumphant loudness!!!

DIMENSIONAL SOUND - T.E.J. RECORDS TOP 50 3LP 75 & THE BIG 50 3LP 77

O.K. a mega huge thanks to E.W. (https://mondoexploito.blogspot.com/?m=1) for requesting and steering me to one of these series from T.E.J. records--a kind of super compilation of what we have called copycat bands.  Basically a record studio mix of musicians all under the Dimensional Sound name umbrella.  I suppose the label kept all of the musicians names secret so they could get a percentage if some label wanted to promote them because they loved how the band hammed up the hit tune or something.  Never any info with these but I did see where they slipped in a name or two on some songs of copycat band names I recognized from posting in the past so will have to do a super organizing eventually with these beloved copycat bands as this here post was made for a big party I'd say as not too many embarrassing songs and it they are there the spin the band puts on it makes it their own 'punkish' version so enjoy thoroughly as I will.  Cheers!

The Everly Brothers - All-Time Original Hits CD 99 w The Rock 'N' Roll ERA tape 87 w The Very Best Of LP 71

REPOST and ADD ON:  Well, finally getting the Everly Brothers posted from vinyl specifically as last time just a few CD's from Goodwill.  However, I found a few years after that post that I had missed the vinyl that I had buried from a Goodwill visit around the same period.  I guess it has new recordings back in 1971.  Enjoy!                  https://bestfile.io/Hx26pVA5h8t5NxQ/file

THE JOHNSON FAMILY SINGERS feat. BETTY JOHNSON - FAITH OF OUR FATHERS LP 58

A nice offering this week in the Jesus Music category albeit from 1958 so not officially that way but also out of the 60's Gospel period as well which I assuredly do not collect.  Has a good version within of the standard, "The Old Rugged Cross' which I enjoyed.  Had to blur the title a little on the file title so they would upload it at bestfiles.

SABU MOULIN AND HIS JUNGLE PERCUSSIONISTS - JUNGLE PERCUSSION LP 59

I pulled this out as I was feelin' the tropics ya know down 'ere in FL  However, I didn't find country of origin on a quick search so please correct me if I am wrong.  The only reason I have this was my post last week for Lena Horne which had on record with Clarity Records which this is on so I got it very quick I might add from Discogs.  I got one other cowboy record that looked good on same label that is in transit.

JERRY WALLACE - To Get To You LP 72 w Comin' Home To You/I Wanna Go To Heaven LP 74 75

Going to copy word for word off back of the later album as an interesting way to market bands while showing the weather maps on TV:  Jerry Wallace....A name that's become synonymous with 'hit'  Jerry Wallace...A performer with his fans always in mind.  Jerry Wallace...A man that I'm proud to call 'my friend'.  Ever since 'Primrose Lane' in the late 50's, I've been a Jerry Wallace fan, and when I had the pleasure of being a small part in making a single out of 'If You Leave Me Tonight, I'll Cry", back in '72, I was doubly happy.  Along with being Operations Manager at one of the nation's most successful country stations, WXCL in Peoria, I do a weekend weather show on Channel 19, where I get a chance to play about 45 seconds of a song while we roll some temperatures around the nation.  The first time I played "If You Leave Me Tonight", the phones lit up at the station and the calls kept coming for nearly an hour asking about it.  I played it the next night, and the same thing happened.  Monday morning I played it on my radio show and ditto, the same thing. I picked it out of the album and the rest is history.  The only problem with having a super-hit like that is following it with another one, that is, ap problem for anyone but Jerry, who keeps on gettin' better and better.  One of the pleasures of handling the music at WXCL is getting a Jerry Wallace record.  All I can say is 'Keep 'em comin' Jerry, we love ya'.  Lee Ranson, Op. Mgr. WXCL RADIO.
