Virgil Fox and Peter Schickele are two very different people. They were kind of contemporaries, both of their best work was probably in the 60s.

Virgil was a wonderfully charismatic organist. He died in 1980. I listened to his Live At Fillmore East album many times when I was a kid.

Peter Schickele is a composer, best known for his classical music parodies done under the name PDQ Bach, but has also done serious works including the soundtrack for SF film Silent Running. He is in his late 80s, and has more or less retired from performing. I have hours of his music memorized, he is a huge favorite in our house.
