Housecoat Project - Wide Eye Doo Dat LP 87

REPOST Request:  For Jonder!  Longtime commentor at this blog, he now has his own blog called https://jonderblog.blogspot.com/ and I have been following his excellent historical details of some of the early San Francisco punk scene with Subterranean artists some of which I have covered here like this band who he mentioned this week and thus I was going to pull it out anyway to hear these rad female vocals again.  Great cover art!

Thank you for your kind words, and for reposting this record. While reading about the Subterranean label, I found out that the name Housecoat Project was an "obscure bit of musician slang for a famous guy's wife's vanity effort".

The "famous guy" in this case was Bruce Loose from Flipper. Meri St. Mary (Housecoat Project leader) is his ex-wife. In 2010, Subterranean put out a second Housecoat Project album called "GirlFIEND". It had been recorded in 1989 but was unreleased for 20 years. These days Meri St. Mary plays "duelling theremins" with Monte Cazazza! She has a cool Instagram: @merist.mary
